Whenever the key is inserted in the ignition the code is read by the immobiliser to determine if it is the correct one or not. If the chip isn't synchronised then the car won't begin and the engine will stop. If this happens, you'll be required to visit a Peugeot dealer and get a replacement key made to fit your vehicle.

Fob
Modern Peugeots come with a key fob which can be used to unlock and open their car automatically. The key fob has a small blade of mechanical that can be used as a backup device in the event that the electronic component fails.
